About

Marta Fonseca.

I am Marta Fonseca. I trained in psychology and worked for years in clinical settings. Today my work is a different one: I facilitate Family Constellations, I write the Maps, and I hold career guidance sessions. Ser Paciente is the name I gave to all of it.

The name came about because, midway through my adult life, I had breast cancer and started Ser Paciente. Today it speaks of another kind of patience: the patience of giving time to someone who is trying to see themselves more clearly.

The name

Ser Paciente stays in Portuguese, and it has to. In Portuguese it says two things at once: to be patient, and to be a patient. I have been both, and the name holds them together in a way English takes apart.

I work with symbolic reading, astrology, Human Design, numerology, and with what psychology gave me as a way of looking. I use them as lenses that help me see a person from several angles at once, without asking them for predictions or revealed truths. What interests me is giving someone back a version of themselves with more time and more room than daily life tends to allow. Getting the label right was never the point.

So there is no doubt

None of these services is a psychology consultation, a psychological assessment or psychotherapy, and none of them replaces clinical care. If that is what you need right now, the right path is to look for a psychologist or a doctor, and, if you would like, I can point you to someone.

Where to start.

These sessions are held in Portuguese. If you would like to talk about working together in another language, write to me and we will see.
